Many, many proclaimed Christians I have spoken with say there is no such thing as Ghosts. Some have actually gotten infuriated with me during these conversations. The most typical response I get is. “When a person dies, they go to heaven or hell, or spend a certain amount of time in purgatory before going to heaven, but once dead they are no longer in this world.” You see, I don’t by that excuse because it normally comes from the person that claims to be a Christian and only believes what they hear from the pulpit. The Bible says that we should try the words of the teacher by the teachings in the written word. Here is where many Christians have become enraged with me. Levitican law states that no one should consult a medium or psychic as it is grounds to be punished by death. Why would this law be included if there were no ghosts?
My second argument comes from the book of 1 Samuel. In 1 Samuel 28:7-20, King Saul says to his servants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her." They say, "There is one in Endor." So Saul disguises himself and at night, he and two men go to the woman. "Consult a spirit for me," he says, "and bring up for me the one I name." . . . Then, the woman asks, "Whom shall I bring up for you?" "Bring up Samuel," he says. When the woman sees Samuel, she cries out and says to Saul, "Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!" The king says to her, "What does he look like?" Saul asks. "An old man wearing a robe," she says.
Then Saul knows it is Samuel and bows down and prostrates himself. Samuel says to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" "I am in great distress," Saul says. "The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do." Samuel says, "The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors - to David . . . . The Lord will hand over both Israel and you to the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also hand over the army of Israel to the Philistines." Immediately, Saul falls to the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel's words.
Once I bring this up, and those that have not educated themselves in the Bible look at me like I just killed their prize pig. Why would this passage be included in the Bible if there are no such things as Ghosts? Clearly, King Saul spoke to the Ghost of Samuel to get the answer to his question.
My quest for understanding of Ghosts continues. I have spoken with many paranormal teams that try to prove the existence of the other side through many different techniques, some scientific, some just plain loony. Many of these investigative teams have some great evidence pertaining to the existence of Ghosts. EVP’s, electronic voice phenomenon, is probably the most wide spread evidence that is truly convincing. I have heard EVP’s that are in foreign languages, some with singing, others that answer direct questions in intelligent responses, most of them give me the willies when I hear them. The other form of evidence most widely seen is pictures and video. Just like UFO videos and pictures, these ghost pictures are debunked pretty quickly. Just a personal note, the only Ghost picture to every give me the heebeegeebees is the one of the boy in the Amityville house. You have to agree that there is substantial audio and video evidence out there to state that Ghosts exist.
All this still doesn’t answer the question as to why Ghosts exist. That is the question I have been trying to find the answer to for a long time now. Many people have given me reasons as to why a ghost exists. Stop me if you have heard these already…. Some ghosts are just reenactments of a very stressful, horrific time, like the Gettysburg military ghosts that go through the same routine over and over, like they are reliving the actual battle. Other Ghosts, I’m told, are afraid to move on to the next level of their journey, they are trapped in our world, world of the living, out of fear. Still other Ghosts were so full of hate and rage in life that it carried over in death and they stay around to torment those that are still living. Ok, ok, I hear ya, you’ve heard these already, but yet, it still does not bring me any closer to an answer.
I want to leave this to you now. What are your thoughts as to the existence of Ghosts? Why do you believe there are Ghosts? These are not easy questions to answer, especially if you hold a belief in the supernatural, including Aliens. Why are there no Ghosts of Aliens? I mean, some had to have died at the Roswell crash, right?
