It was a few weeks ago when my wife & I brought our new baby home from the hospital. He wasn’t more than 36 hours old. We were in the nursery getting things together to lay him down for a couple hours to get some much-needed rest. Those of you with children know how valuable that hour or two of sleep is while the baby is asleep. Well, I missed this opportunity because of what I now believe to be an angry spirit.
While we were in the nursery, I was holding the baby and my wife was standing by the crib when a voice called out from behind us, ‘Hey You!’ I looked at my wife and she was visibly shaken by the voice. It had come from a 'dark' area of the house.
Now, I have to tell you, there have been some issues in the house before this incident. The back bedroom has always felt like a dark place, people that have slept in the room have complained about nightmares and such. My oldest son claims that someone was in there with him. My wife claims that the spirit of an old lady resided here when she first moved in. The spirit would rush at her when she was scolding or correcting her daughters, as if it was trying to protect them from something. Let’s return to the night of the disembodied voice.
Seeing my wife visibly shaken and knowing my new son was in there sent me into what I’ll refer to as ‘Papa Bear’ mode. I called back to whatever was trying to taunt us. I went to the back of the basement where the voice had come from. I told the spirit that it was unwelcomed here and it had to leave. Upon this proclamation, the hair on my arms stood on end and I felt like something passed through me to get to another part of the house. I went upstairs and encountered the same feeling as I did in the basement--hair standing on end and a feeling of something passing through me to get to another area. Being a spiritual man, I started to recite some scriptures at the spirit. After a good hour, I had ‘chased’ this thing back to the original room in which it first spoke. There I had prayer and asked that the house be filled with the light of the Lord and that this entity be removed.
When I had exhausted myself mentally, I went back into the room with my wife and son. They were sitting in the recliner together. My wife said that the area of the house was lighter and didn’t feel like the spirit had any kind of hold here anymore. We went through the rest of the night without any incidents, but that is not the end of the story.
I have consulted with some spiritual leaders about the situation and been told I should do a few things to completely rid the house of this unwanted guest. A priest told me that I should bless the entire house and anoint the doorways with holy oil. A friend of mine, who is a 'sensitive', said I should ‘sage’ the house to rid it of the spirit. And a psychic said the spirit was a murder victim who is restless. She said that the spirit is protective over the house (she thinks he still feels like this is his home) and is disturbed by my presence in the house. Now that I have made myself known to it (and that I am not going away), and have taken authority over the dwelling, she thinks I should have no more issues with 'him.'
Fast forward two weeks later. I am pleased to report that there have been no other incidents with that spirit or any other entity since then. This experience has me interested in further exploring what we need to do to take authority over unwelcomed spirit guests, so I have started researching other proven ways to rid your dwelling of unwanted spirits.
