If you hadn't guessed by now, Weirld is based in the Great State of Ohio. There is no better state to be based, in my humble opinion. We have the Loveland Frogman, Ohio Grassman, UFO's, Wright Patt, Bessie - Lake Erie Monster, and many, many haunted sites. Ohio also has many wonders of the ancient world, Mounds.
I am sure you have all seen or heard of some of these mounds, like Serpent Mound. There are many other mounds all around Ohio, in fact, most of the top ten Mounds in North America are in Ohio. Check out the read more section for the Top Ten List of mounds in Ohio.
Bigfoot and Global Warming

from Ecowordly.com:
Bigfoot. Sasquatch. Whatever you want to call the legendary North American biped, it is likely the elusive beast will lose a portion of its existing habitat in the coastal and lowland regions of the northwestern United States as the climate warms. The good news? Bigfoot will be gaining a bunch of new land in the Rockies and up into Canada.
In a paper recently published in the Journal of Biogeography, biologist Jeff Lozier of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his colleagues argue that a potential source of error in publicly available data employed in a commonly-used statistical modeling technique to predict the “ecological niche” of species may affect the accuracy of ecological niche models.
Using a database of sightings and footprints for Bigfoot in western North America, the researchers suggest that convincing distributions of an animals range can be generated from questionable data. By comparing the distribution of Bigfoot to that of a black bear, Lozier et al. “suggest that many sightings of this cryptozoid may be cases of mistaken identity.”
Failed Doomsday Predictions

I just finished reading a great article on failed 'Doomsday' predictions. It kind of puts the whole '2012' prediction into context. Throughout history, religions and some secular groups have used the coming 'End' to try to control the masses. The whole 'you better do this before...' way of getting people to act the way you want them too. I'm not here to bash on anyones beliefs, as I have some of my own. I just wanted to put the 2012 predictions into some better context. Even Mayans are saying it is not an End World prediction, but rather the beginning of an new 'Enlightenment'.
Bejamin Radford, a columnist from Livescience.com could not have wrote a better article on the subject of failed doomsday predictions. I have included it in the read more section for my audience.
UFO Disclosure

The current HOT TOPIC in the circles I travel in is ‘UFO Disclosure’. Through the use of technologies, namely the internet, it has been possible to have a UFO sighting in Chile and be talking about it in China in only a matter of seconds. The advancing technologies have led us to the point we are at now. It is only a matter of time before we have Disclosure. Sightings are occurring daily and being talked about all over the world. There are pictures of ‘Aliens’ being posted and shared with the world.
While I am travelling, I meet interesting people. Many of these people share some of the same beliefs I do when it comes to UFO’s and ‘Visitations’. Various podcasts, talkshows, interviews, and just plain talking with people, many believe that Disclosure is imminent. Many of these people believe that this will happen in late 2009 to Early 2010. I wanted to share with you two of the theories for disclosure I have heard most often.

Just in time for Halloween, Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures crew—Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin—are participating in what promises to be a pretty scary situation: they’ll be locked inside an infamously haunted insane asylum for seven hours starting on 8PM on Oct.30. The trio will be locked inside the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia, which housed violent criminals and other inmates from the 1860s to 1994, when it was shut down, and many of these dangerous spirits are said to still prowl its dark hallways.
The Ghost Adventurers will interview local witnesses and paranormal guest experts, some of whom will be on site during the lockdown, and the team will communicate with fans online via Webcams, live video chat, and text messaging, making it a truly interactive event. (Fans can also chat with the team the night before, at 11:30 PM ET at travelchannel.com.) The live event serves as a pre-season kickoff for a new round of Ghost Adventures episodes that premiere November 6. Calling in from location last week, Bagans gave Weirld.com the exclusive inside story.

from azfamily.com
"SELIGMAN, ARIZONA -- Seligman is the birthplace of historic Route 66, but could it also be the home of Bigfoot? "Java" Bob Smallsback of Searching for Bigfoot, Inc. is in town researching two reported Bigfoot sightings by a Phoenix man who is building a cabin in the area. The sightings reportedly happened on two different occasions over the past two years. Smallsback says he was called in after the most recent sighting and claims he was able to track the creature, finding what he says is a fingernail where the Sasquatch had stubbed his toe on a rock..."
Primatologist: If Bigfoot exists,it's not an ape

from statesman.com:
"If Bigfoot exists in North America, the mythical beast is no mere ancient representative of an ape family that migrated across the Bering land mass with mastodons and ancient man, a primatologist says.
Bigfoot — or Sasquatch or Skunk Ape or Fouke Monster or whatever name you prefer — would have to be a completely new and specific species, Esteban Sarmiento told attendees at the ninth annual Texas Bigfoot Conference on Sept. 26. "If it's real, this animal is exceedingly human-like," Sarmiento said. 'It would be our closest relative on earth..."
