Haunted Items

E-mail Print PDF

annabelleI apologize for the lack of content, I have been a bit 'under the weather' lately.

I was browsing around Ebay and found a bid for a haunted painting.  A painting the artist painted during a rough time in thier life.  In fact, the seller wrote this:

"I am an Artist and professional Healer, Channel and Spiritualist.  I NEED TO GET THIS PAINTING OUT OF MY HOUSE!!  I was in a bad way when i painted it and although i loved it when it was finished and have kept it for myself for about 6 months…I’M DONE AND IT NEEDS TO GO!!"

This leads me into a topic I have had a few discussions with some spiritualists about, and that is haunted items.  Can a ring, painting, box, etc. be haunted by its previous owner or contain some sort of energy? Makes me think of the TV show Warehouse 13, with all the artifacts of different energies and such.

There are stories of haunted artifacts, in fact, one of the most famouse is the Annebelle doll.  This is a Ragedy Ann doll that is said to contain the spirit of a little girl, who was thought to be harmless.  The doll was a gift given to a girl named Donna by her mother.  The doll was a prized posession of Donna's.  She moved away to college with it.  The place she moved into with her friends was haunted by a little girl.  Priests and spiritualists came to try to make contact with the little girl that was causing the mischief.  During one communication, the girl asked to live inside the doll.  Thats when the doll started to move.  It would end up in different areas of the house from where it was put.  Donna decided to call it Annabelle after the girl that was said to be living in the doll now.  Movement of the doll reached the breaking point when one night there was a large comotion in the room it was in.  Thinking a burglar had broke in, the girls went to the room and pulled open the door.  One of the girls was attacked by an entity.  Ed and Lorraine Warren were called in to investigate.  They found the doll roughly thrown in the corner of the room.  Donna gave the doll to the Warrens.  It is currently in their Occult Museum. The doll, to this day, is said to still move, but not as much as it used too.

There has been articles written on statues and paintings that appear to cry tears, oil, or bleed human blood.  There is a statue of Mary, the mother of Jesus, that has its own shrine built for it.  The statue started to cry in 1953 and has had many tests done by scientists that cannot explain the enigma.  The tears that come from the statue are the same consistensy as human tears.  A simple search around the internet will reveal dozens of these types of claims.  Religious figures take these enigmas as miracles from God.  One scientist, Dr. Luigi Garlaschelli explains it like this:

"What is needed is a hollow statue made of porous material, such as plaster or ceramic. The icon must be glazed or painted with some impermeable coating. If the statue is then filled up with a liquid [surreptitiously, through a tiny hold in the head, for example], the porous material will absorb it, but the glazing will stop it from flowing out. If the glazing, however, is imperceptibly scratched away on or around the eyes, tear-like drops will leak out, as if materialising from thin air. If the cavity behind the eyes is small enough, once all the liquid has dripped out there are virtually no traces left in the icon. When i put it to the test, this trick proved to be very satisfactory, baffling all onlookers."

There is a haunted chair that I have heard many tales about.  It is said to be the most haunted piece of furniture in the world.

This actual haunted chair resides in Aida, Oklahoma it reportedly moves on its own, and a cold chill is felt by everyone that sits in it. One reccent story tells of this chair being haunted by the ghost of the man who originally owned it died sitting in it. So did my uncle and Grandfather, says Gail Steelman who now has it in her home. I can also tell you that others who have sat in it have gotten news the very day that they did of somones death ot a great trradgdy befalls them.

Many have tried to sit on the chair over the years but it soon starts shaking. Vibrating softly at first then noticably faster until it starts shaking. Cold chills and hot sweats usually affect the sitter then a feeling of nausua.

"The chair was shaking all of a sudden and I was thrown out of the chair by some invisible force." Says Gail Steelman who inherited it from her mother."And this real haunted chair has been passed down in our family for many years."

Investigated by many paranormal researchers, and the curious over the years the first reports of it started in the 1960's. The chair has passed through the Steelman family relatives and has traveled from cousins to even a few ex-in-laws. The chair has been to more then just the 50 states, it has also been shipped abroad and through out Europe when an aunt moved to Scotland, then it was shipped back when she died sitting in it. Always staying within the families tight grasp.

Haunted items, like the ones mentioned above have also become big business.  Like the painting on Ebay, a simple search for 'haunted' on Ebay, reveals hundreds of items for sale.  I do believe that there are items out there that contain demons or spirits, even curses or religious miracles.  I do not believe that there are thousands of these items in existence. I would only offer this caution to those that are interested in such things, be weary of what you are buying.  Many of these things are hoaxes, like the haunted rubber ducky I seen on ebay.

If any of you have come in contact with or have a haunted item, share your story about it with me.  If you would send me pictures, I would even ask if I could see it first hand.

I hope you all (or y'all) are healthy and happy!
