Chernobyl - Paranormal Paradise?

E-mail Print PDF

chernobylChernobyl - the very mention of this name brings up thoughts of the disaster that occured.  In my work outside of the paranormal, I have heard stories that are just horrible.  Stories of the Russian government paying people a lifetimes wages to go spend 10 minutes near the reactor throwing rocks on it trying to cover it up.  Little did those people know they would only be able to enjoy that money for a couple days as they recieved lethal doses of radiation.  Basically, they cooked their insides, like they were in a microwave.  Sad.

Looking back today, Chernobyl is a ghost town, litterally.  People claim seeing and even being touched by ghosts in some of the buildings.  Beyond the ghosts, there are stories of a winged creature being seen for days before the disaster.  Sounds awfully familiar to the Mothman of Point Pleasant, WV.  The Mothman appeared before the great bridge collapse in Galipolis, OH and Point Pleasant, WV.

In my research I found a well written blog about Chernobyl and the paranormal there.  I have included it in the read more button.

"Is the Chernobyl Power Plant haunted? Josh Gates and the Destination Truth team investigated the area and will determine whether or not eyewitness claims are true.

Some believe aliens were involved with the disaster. Witnesses claimed to have seen a UFO hovering above the plant for six hours during the accident. Three years later, a Doctor Gospina stated he saw an "amber-like" object above the plant. A year after that, a reporter photographed an object similar to the one Gospina described hovering above the disaster site.

A creature known as the Black Bird of Chernobyl was also sighted days leading up to the disaster. It is described as a large black, bird like creature or a headless man with a 20 foot wingspan, and red eyes. It has been compared to that of the Mothman in Point Pleasant, VA. This creature has not been seen since the disaster. People experienced horrific nightmares, threatening phone calls and first-hand encounters with the winged-beast. Did they really see an unknown creature or was it something out of nature such as the black stork? We may never know.

The Pripyat, the Chernobyl worker town, is believed to be haunted. People have had the feeling of being watched when walking past the city hospital. Considering it looks like the aftermath of an apocalypse, that feeling may be anything but supernatural. Apparitions and shadows are often seen. Some have even reported being touched. But could the spirits of its victims be roaming the affected areas?"
